PRIVATE PRACTICE:
Because of his early scientific discipline through architectural engineering he developed an early interest in diagnosis, believing it was important to identify and establish an awareness of the seriousness of a patients health problem prior to initiating a therapeutic protocol. As early as February 1960, Dr. Cessna routinely ordered blood testing, urinalysis, ECGs and phonocardiographic studies. In addition to Chiropractic spinal assessment, he conducted from the very beginning full body diagnostic procedures, which included pelvic examinations and PAP tests.
In 1965, he moved his practice and family to Seneca, Missouri, where he built a clinic that served patients from southwest Missouri and northeast Oklahoma, focusing on internal disorders for 12 years. Dr. Cessna enrolled in the Columbia College course in 1976, which led to a BA degree in Bio-nutrition that further expanded his knowledge and expertise in preventive medicine and nutritional therapies.
In 1977, he moved to the town of Rogers in northwest Arkansas where he designed and constructed a 2,800 square foot clinic. It was at this time in Dr. Cessnas professional life that he was fortunate to establish a preventive medicine, nutritionally oriented, lifestyle internal disorders practice, which attracted patients from all over the United States and Canada. He was privileged to see people who traveled across both oceans and South America, as well. In addition to conducting a busy practice, under the sponsorship of Texas Chiropractic College, Dr. Cessna began to teach
and share these highly effective diagnostic and therapeutic principles to the profession, flying in his own twin-engine Cessna with a private pilot, to sites all over the United States. Throughout the decade of the 1980s he continued to travel, lecture and serve patients in Rogers, Arkansas, until his retirement from active practice in 1989.
